Having achieved a perfect 2400 on the SAT and near perfect score on the ACT and having taught and tutored hundreds of students over more than a decade, I have an unparalleled mastery of both the tests themselves and the methods needed to help students achieve their greatest potential on them. Unlike local teachers who do SAT or ACT tutoring as a kind of side business, I am a full-time tutor and have been for most of the past decade, so I have had the opportunity to make this my exclusive focus and learn everything there is to know about the tests and how best to prepare students for them.
I am a graduate of Yale University and have both a B.A. and M.A. in History (I reached the dissertation phase of my PhD, but set aside that journey to focus full-time on test prep nearly a decade ago). Prior to becoming an SAT/ACT tutor, I worked for several years as a college professor, teaching introductory and mid-level History courses and also spent a couple of years as a college writing tutor.
Prior to that, I worked in documentary film, helping to produce several Ken Burns and Ric Burns films such as New York: A Documentary Film and Jazz and even had a brief stint at The History Channel. I also dabbled in the jewelry industry, helping my wife start a fine jewelry business.
I was a collegiate athlete, playing lacrosse at Yale, and when I am not helping people conquer the SAT (and other standardized tests) I still enjoy watching and playing sports, particularly ice hockey (my real sport of choice). I am also a father of two and spend most of my free time on my other passion: being the very best father I can be!
