Reason Test Prep’s Founder

Reason Test Prep is the creation of Brian Prestia, a Yale graduate and elite test-prep veteran with 20 years of experience preparing people for the SAT, ACT, GMAT, and GRE. Brian has achieved a perfect score on the SAT and near perfect scores on the ACT (35), GMAT (790: 50Q, 51V), and GRE (170Q, 169V). He has tutored nearly 1,000 students from all corners of the globe and has helped his students gain entry to most of the top universities and graduate schools in the country. Brian holds both a B.A. and M.A. in History (he reached the dissertation phase of his PhD, but set aside that journey to focus full-time on test prep in the early 2000’s). Aside from his test prep experience, he worked for several years as a college History professor.

Brian has a passion for teaching and especially for getting students to think more critically, problem solve more creatively, and, most importantly, enjoy the lifelong process of learning. Initially this passion was aimed only at his students, but since hiring other tutors these characteristics have now been instilled in the next generation of educators at Reason Test Prep.

Our Tutors & Our Training

At RTP, we aim to be the best SAT, ACT, GMAT, and GRE tutors in the business. We start with gifted, compassionate, and talented teachers who have elite ability on standardized tests. This is followed by an intense training regimen that goes way beyond what is normal in the test prep world. New tutors apprentice under the leadership of Master Tutors before they even begin working with their own students. And it doesn’t stop there. Through weekly collaboration and communication, our tutors continue to learn from each other and push each other to be the best SAT, ACT, GMAT, and GRE tutors on the planet.

Our Path To Online Tutoring

We’ve been doing online tutoring since 2011, but we don’t just do it simply as a matter of convenience. When it came to hiring tutors, we were frustrated by the pool of potential tutors that we could find in the local area. We therefore faced a crucial decision: hire and train adequate local candidates or find really amazing, really special tutors from anywhere in the world and explain to our clients that they’d be better off with a great tutor who could only meet online than an adequate tutor who could meet in person. We chose the latter and have never looked back!
